I grew up in Hallingdal and began to learn Hardanger fiddle at the age of 10, taking lessons from Jens Myro and later from other traditional fiddle players including Øyvind Brabant, Magne Myhren and Egil Syversbråten.

When I was young there was an active dance and music milieu so it was natural to also learn to dance. When I moved to Oslo I started to play in Hallinglaget, and have been playing there for the last 15 years.

Anne Hytta, Tore Bolstad and me have played together for several years in an informal group. I've learned to play some Valdresspringar from Tore Bolstad.

I specialize in playing for dance, and I play for weddings, funerals, concerts and I do some teaching. I mostly play solo, but have also been playing with organ and with vocals, and flutes.

For my daily work I combine practical work in the social field with theoretical work in ethics at the university. I run a cafe for people with psychological problems, and work with drug addicts. This will be my sixth US visit.
